Marathon Relay - June 15 2013
A big thank you to everyone involved in making the Marathon relay on Saturday a huge success.
The relay was jointly organised by Scoil Na Coroine Mhuire Parents Association & Ashford Athletic Club and held in the Ashford GAA grounds. Despite the inclement conditions on Friday night, Saturday turned out to be a nice day and a great day was had by all.
The course consisted of 95.5 laps of 440 metres around the GAA grounds.

Despite the rain on Friday night, the pitch was perfect for running on.

Ready to go @ 10:00 AM Sharp

And we're off

Lap 1 complete

Meanwhile, the cakes were ready for sale, to any unsuspecting passers-by.

And back at Race HQ, runners were being scheduled, bibs provided, refreshments for the runners and adults at the ready.

Fast forward a bit...

Things are getting hot!

When suddenly, around lap 81, some of the adults began to feel left out!
Although some were a little camera shy.

Nearly there!

When we train, we start as a group and finish as a group! Last lap, here we go...
Three hours and forty odd minutes later. WE DID IT!!!

Once again we would like to thank everyone who helped make this event a success; the runners, sponsors, people who baked\donated cakes, parents, senior runners, the organisers & volunteers (you know who you are), the Scoil Na Coroine Mhuire Parents Association, Scoil Na Coroine Mhuire & of course Ashford GAA for the use of the grounds.
And finally, we ate Cake...
